Shelter Island story teller and writer Molly Numark is well-known locally for “Story Time with Mollie Numark” at the Shelter Island Library. Recently she’s had some national recognition as well — under her pen name, Mollie Fennell. Her short story, “A Sunny Day in the Rain Forest,” has just been published in the 20th anniversary edition of the popular children’s magazine, Ladybug. Beautifully illustrated by Anne Reas, the story introduces the young reader to the colorful creatures of the rain forest.

The September issue of Ladybug is available for reading at the library. Maybe she’ll read it out loud when “Story Time” resumes next month.
