Police add DWI checkpoints for weekend

The Suffolk County East End DWI Task Force and the Shelter Island Police Department are warning motorists to stay sober this holiday weekend.

Police said DWI checkpoints will be set up on the Island to catcher drivers who violate DWI laws.

“Be sure to assign a designated driver, call for a taxi or limo or make arrangements to stay at a location if you have been drinking,” said Shelter Island Police Chief James Read in a press release issued Wednesday night.
