Brush fire near tennis courts
A small brush fire broke out behind a house on North Ferry Road a little after 1 p.m. next to the town’s tennis courts.
Flames leapt 20 feet or so, but a quickly responding Shelter Island Fire Department extinguished the blaze in a matter of minutes with no damage or injuries.
