EVERY WEEK

Alcoholics Anonymous, beginners’ meeting. Fridays, Shelter Island Presbyterian Church, 7:30 p.m. Open discussion at St. Mary’s, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

Art Barnett Poetry Roundtable, Tuesdays, 4 to 6 p.m., Shelter Island Library.

Clase de Ingles, English class for Spanish-speaking adults will resume October 23, 6 p.m., Shelter Island Library. Free.

Friday Night Dialogues, artist Janet Culbertson, curator of “Art Not To Match Over Your Couch,” with invited guest artists. Shelter Island Library, 7 p.m. Free, donations appreciated.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25

Tales tall and true, Sylvester Manor, 12 noon to 3 p.m. Haunted hayrides, ghost story-themed house tours, pumpkin carving contest, marshmallow toasting, warm cider and more. Admission is $5 per person; kids six and under free. To reserve email [email protected] or call 749-0626.

Nature’s Halloween Trail, Mashomack’s costumed characters have fun facts to share. Arrive between 5 and 6:30 p.m., allow 30 minutes to complete the trail. All ages welcome; children should be accompanied by an adult. Bring a flashlight. Refreshments. Rain or shine. 749-1001.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 26

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31

Halloween parade, 4 p.m., starting at Center firehouse, followed by trick-or-treating on Smith Street.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1

NHS Cardboard Campout, Shelter Island School, camp out overnight to raise money for Habit for Humanity, 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Students in grades 10 to 12 who raise $150 can participate. Send donations to SIHS NHS, P.O. Box 2015, Shelter Island 11964.
