Janet and Robert Rescigno

Robert William (Bob) Rescigno passed away quietly at  his home on Shelter Island, with his devoted wife of 59 years, Janet, by his side. He chose to forego further treatment, when doctors told him his cancer had returned and was inoperable, because it would have extended his life a few months, and he didn’t want to ruin anyone’s holidays forever by dying at that time. Marie Frances Ferrari of Shelter Island passed away peacefully at her home on July 14, 2015 at the age of 70.
Marie was born in New York City on October 3, 1944 to Joseph and Clara Galli. She graduated from the Mary Louis Academy and the Lenox Hill Hospital School of Nursing. (more…)

Carol McManus Northcutt
Carol McManus Northcutt was born on December 22, 1938, on Shelter Island and died on July 2, 2015 surrounded by family, friends and nursing staff at the Scott & White Continuing Care Hospital in Temple, Texas.

Carol graduated from Shelter Island High School in 1957. She graduated from Southampton School of Nursing in 1960 and worked for 20 years in both med/surgery nursing as well as psychiatry. (more…)

ROBERT LEWIS HARRIS

At 6 feet, 7 inches, Bob Harris was easy to notice.

He always cut a dashing figure — with his signature tasseled loafers, a brocaded silk vest in summer, a crimson plaid Christmas jacket or some other ele­gant, attention-getting attire whenever the occasion called for it. Unless his work as an attorney for the Landegger family’s pulp and paper concerns required his presence in Europe or another far-flung part of the globe, Bob rarely missed a weekend on Shelter Island, where he bought his house on Cartwright Road in 1976.
