All for one. The Shelter Island volleyball teams stayed strong and together over the course of his season.
Shelter Island volleyball had a new look in 2017.
We lost seven players to graduation in June, leaving only three returning varsity players. Laura Mayo took over the reins of the junior varsity team from Jim Theinert, a three-year veteran of the position. On the books it looked like a rebuilding year, but the varsity matched its record from 2016, and the JV was stronger than the previous year. (more…)

These disturbing statistics come courtesy of the Ocean Conservancy and confirm what many of us may have already suspected.
We’re literally killing ourselves (and our fellow living beings) with garbage — much of it plastic, which we love as consumers because it is strong, durable and long-lasting, and hate as environmentalists for exactly the same reason. (more…)
