The Dering Harbor Village Board of Trustees will continue discussions over the winter about the height of hedges in the village and raising fees charged for permit reviews.

But decisions on the issues won’t be forthcoming until seasonal residents return in the spring, Mayor Tim Hogue said at the board meeting Saturday. (more…)

Who owns the bottom of the canal leading to Merkel Creek? That answer could decide the town’s role in future dredging.

South Ferry Hills residents who live around Merkel Creek are likely to get the town to kick in $5,000  for dredging incidental to bulkhead work the members of the South Ferry Hills Homeowners Association are tackling.

But whether they’ll get support for future maintenance dredging by the town remains uncertain. (more…)

While the South Ferry channel is set to be dredged this year and all expectations are that the work will go forward without a hitch in November, the Waterways Management Advisory Council will recommend that a second project be listed at Menantic Creek — just in case something goes wrong with the South Ferry dredge.
