The Garden Club of Shelter Island’s Operation Daffodil celebrated its seventh year with Cub Scout Pack 56 planting 100 King Alfred Daffodil Bulbs on Saturday, November 10, at Prospect Park. They’ve planted over 2,000 King Alfred Jumbo Daffodils throughout the Island. Jean McClintock and Tim Purtell oversee the program. Juniors and seniors from Shelter Island School attended “The Great Gatsby” at Sag Harbor’s Bay Street Theater (BST) on Wednesday, November 14. The visit was part of the theater’s Literature Live! series, BST’s flagship educational program which presents free, fully produced professional theatrical performances based on classic American literature used in school curricula.
“Who’s taking care of the caregiver while the caregiver’s busy giving care?”
November is designated as National Family Caregivers Month. I learned this from Senior Center Director Laurie Fanelli who told me that it’s a time to recognize all who sacrifice every day to help those in need.
Shelter Island National Honor Society hosted the Cardboard Campout earlier this month to raise money for Habitat for Humanity.
