I was listening to Elvis singing that song last week while my grandchildren decorated my Christmas tree. They had a great time. And when they were finished, we went to Bella Vita and picked up a pizza. While they placed the ornaments in the best locations, they sipped hot chocolate I bought earlier at the Eagle Deli. (more…)

I almost forgot about writing my column this week because I have been so busy in New Jersey carrying out grandfatherly duties. I went there last Tuesday to watch 3-year-old Andrew and 7-year-old Avalene. Their father had to work and their mom had to be on the West Coast. So I took over the daily care including transportation to school, feeding, dressing and entertaining. (more…)

I just returned from a week of baby-sitting two grandchildren in New Jersey. It will take me some time to recover. And that’s to recover from the long and exhausting trip and all the energy it takes to keep a 2-year-old boy and 7-year-old girl occupied and happy.
You must remember that this was last week when the temperatures were above 90 each day. But I was determined to get them out in the fresh air and not glued to a TV in the air-conditioned comfort of their home. So I planned some events. (more…)
