Shelter Island voters will be asked to provide $22,711 more in taxes over last year to support a $700,339 library budget for 2017 when they cast ballots on Saturday, October 22.
That translates to an additional $4.66 per household based on a median home assessment of $777,000. (more…)

Renovations at the library began in May.
Originally aiming for a late August completion date, it’s now estimated that construction at the Shelter Island Library, started in the spring, will conclude in early October, according to Library Director Terry Lucas.
Work on a new roof began in May and a new front entrance has been under construction this summer. (more…)

Island voters resoundingly approved the Shelter Island Public Library’s proposed 2016 budget on Saturday by a vote of 106 to 9. (more…)

Voters will decide Saturday if they’re willing to spend an additional 88 cents per household in 2016 to support the Shelter Island Public Library.
That’s what the anticipated tax hike per median household is projected to be if voters say yes to a proposition to raise $582,346 in taxes to support a $679,720 overall spending plan. Other revenues come from contributions, fundraising events, fines and interest income. (more…)
