New carbon filters were installed at the Senior Activities Center this morning that will rid the building — which includes two medical offices — of water contamination.
Less than a month after town officials received word that water at the building that houses the Senior Activities Center and two medical offices was contaminated with MTBE — a gasoline additive that leeched into groundwater — workers from AquaFuture, Inc. installed a carbon filter that will once again provide potable water. A contractor for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is scheduled to be on the Island Monday to install carbon filters to remediate the problem at the Senior Activities Center with MTBE — methyl tertiary butyl ether, an additive that was used in gasoline before the substance was banned in 2004.
The increased presence of the colorless, odorless substance resulted in advising those in the Senior Center and medical offices that they should use bottled water until the problem was resolved. (more…)

Anyone associating themselves with the KKK and Nazism is associating themselves with hatred, bigotry, racism, intolerance and a tremendously inhumane past filled with horrible evil.
