Shelter Island doesn’t own Reel Point and so what should its involvement be to protect it from erosion?

It’s a question town officials have grappled with, finally concluding, on the advice of Town Attorney Bob DeStefano Jr., that if taking no action threatens properties around Coecles Harbor, public money could be spent to protect them. (more…)

Taxes are the talk of the nation these days, with Congress passing legislation that President Trump and Republican members of congress are calling a “tax reform” bill that runs to about 1,100 pages. At least one senator admitted he hasn’t read the bill, but will vote for it anyway.

The Town Board moved the St. Gabriel’s development application another step forward Tuesday, briefly going from a work session into an official meeting, to vote to unanimously approve a wetlands permit for the project. (more…)
