RECOVERING LOOTED NAZI ART
Raymond Dowd, an attorney specializing in recovery of art looted by the Nazis, will be the next guest speaker at the Shelter Island Library’s Friday Night Dialogues program on June 30. Mr. Dowd’s talk begins at 7 p.m. and he will share details about how looted art bankrolled the Nazi war machine and about legal efforts to return art to the rightful owners, despite opposition from some of the world’s most prominent museums and art collectors. Congratulations to the Class of 2017 from the Shelter Island Country Club (SICC). Job well done!
The club would like to thank the Amagansett American Legion for their generous and thoughtful donation of a new “Rules of Golf” sign. The sign is in memory of one of their deceased members, Ken Rea. Forty-four Legion members played golf on Tuesday. The sun came out and delivered a beautiful day. Everyone had a great time. (more…)

OLIVE REICH’S WORK ON VIEW
The artwork of Island artist Olive Reich will be featured in an exhibition at Griffing and Collins Real Estate in Shelter Island Heights. She is known for her beautiful watercolors of flowers and sailboats and both will be on display in the show, which opens with a reception on Saturday, June 10 from 4 to 6 p.m.
