The Shelter Island Country Club’s financial picture is about as bleak as it was last year. And once again, another honeymoon with a restaurateur has ended in a split. Endless Summer Grille operator Peter Ambrose won’t be back at Goat Hill next year. (more…)

The two women seeking election to the Town Board on November 8, the only local race on the ballot, met for a public discussion Sunday afternoon at the school auditorium and agreed on almost every issue raised.
Dubbed a “Meet the Candidates Forum,” the event featured incumbent Democratic Councilwoman Mary Dudley and Republican challenger Amber Brach-Williams. (more…)

At first they were “what was that?” moments, Peggy Brennan said, describing the loud thumps she’d hear, usually coming from upstairs.
“I would think one of the little ones had fallen,” Ms. Brennan said Monday, sitting on the porch of her Shore Road house, directly across from the second fairway of the Shelter Island Country Club’s (SICC) golf course. (more…)
