For the second year in a row, both the boys and girls Shelter Island School’s cross country teams captured the Class D County and League 8 Championship titles. Hearty congratulations to all the members of the teams for another season of hard work and continuing success. (more…)

Under a dark and nearly full moon sky, the Shelter Island varsity boys and girls cross country teams boarded the first ferry for Greenport on Saturday, October 15. We then joined the Southold varsity cross country teams and shared a bus for this season’s longest road trip to date. Our destination, Warwick, Rhode Island for the Brown University Cross Country Northeast High School Championships. (more…)

To any cross country athlete, Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park is the most well-known and toughest course Long Island has to offer.

“Toughest” comes in the form of the aptly named “Hernia Hill,” aka Snake Hill and its more formidable overlord, “Cardiac Hill.” (more…)

On Tuesday, October 27, the Shelter Island School boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Suffolk‎ County division championships at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park. The division championships are 5K races that serve as a mandatory prerequisite to compete in the county championships. (more…)
