Braving the intense sun and heat on Monday afternoon, 100 players competed on the first day of the annual Simon Gavron Challenge Cup, an adult soccer tournament at Fiske Field sponsored by Sunset Beach and the Shelter Island Recreation Department. (more…)

Sunset Beach will be the site of a Cocktail Party Fundraiser for Shelter Island Fireworks, Inc. this Friday, June 17. From 6 to 9 p.m., guests are invited to enjoy an open bar, hors d’oeuvres and raffles. Tickets are $125 in advance, $150 at the door. The group is looking to raise $40,000 for the 2016 Shelter Island Fireworks show which will be held on July 9 at Crescent Beach.
