Commissioner of Public Works Jay Card Jr. has declared a snow emergency as of midnight tonight. He and Police Chief Jim Read are telling residents to stay off the roads except in cases of extreme emergency.

Town Clerk Dorothy Ogar announced Monday afternoon that Town Hall will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, due to the weather forecast.

The Town Board work session, scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Tuesday in its work session, the  Town Board took up the issue of the IGA ordering town garbage bags but taking months to pay the town back. The other handful of retail outlets that sell the bags pay upfront when they’re ordered through the Highway Department, and keeps 10 percent of the sales.

REPORTER FILE PHOTO | The Town Board wrapped up budget meetings Friday afternoon at Town Hall, deciding on a budget that would include a 3.5 percent tax hike. A public hearing on the budget is slated for Wednesday, November 4.

The Town Board Friday afternoon adopted a preliminary budget that would raise taxes 3.5 percent, well below what members were  projecting at the beginning of talks earlier this month. (more…)
