On November 15, the 38th Anniversary of the opening of the Timothy Hill Ranch at Riverhead,  the Ranch honored Shelter Island resident Tim Murphy as their Ambassador of the Year at the Black Tie & Boots Holiday Gala. Also honored were Business of the Year, Neefus-Stype Agency and Randy Morreale, and Philanthropists of the Year, Steve and Lisa Feldman of Renovation Angel.

Organizers of the 37th Annual Shelter Island 10K Run – 5K Run/Walk  are optimistic about the forecast for tomorrow’s race, with the weather gods on their side.

Last year was the first in the history of the race when the skies opened and it poured rain all day, but that didn’t stop the determined runners, walkers and Islanders who cheered them on. (more…)

Two days before runners in the Shelter Island 10K hit the course, Cliff Clark, who co-founded the event with John Strode and Jack Fath 36 years ago, called his hometown’s signature sporting event “as good a race as any in the country.” (more…)

Shelter Island School’s Earth Science students bundled up against the cold weather and spent the day outdoors at Mashomack on Friday, March 14. The program is part of the Mashomack Preserve/Shelter Island School partnership, “No Child Left Inside.” (more…)
