Concert to liven up a January evening
The Steep Canyon Rangers.
The Town of Shelter Island Recreation Department proudly presents an evening of bluegrass music with the Steep Canyon Rangers on January 16, 2010. Referred to by fans as the “Steeps,” this Nashville-based band plays a variety of songs rooted in the traditions of the genre but also original songs stretching the boundaries of contemporary bluegrass.
Cited as the International Bluegrass Music Association Emerging Artist of the Year in 2006, the band has been touring the country extensively, most recently with comedian/banjoist Steve Martin, including a gig at Carnegie Hall with bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley.
The Steep Canyon Rangers are: Woody Platt (guitar and lead vocals), Mike Guggino (mandolin and harmony vocals), Charles Humphrey III (bass and harmony vocals), Nicky Sanders (fiddle and harmony vocals) and Graham Sharp (banjo, lead and harmony vocals).
Tickets are $20 (general reserved), $25 (premium reserved) and $30 (VIP reserved). Students with purchased tickets and a photo ID will receive a $10 rebate at the door.
