Plans will go to ZBA

In today’s [Thursday, January 14] front page article on the Zagoreos application to rebuild their burned out house on the Ram Island First Causeway, you state whether the plans will be subject to ZBA review “remains to be seen.”


The proposal to replace the fire-damaged residence will be subject to special permit review by the ZBA. This is due to the sensitivity of the site and concerns regarding the impact new construction may have on the wetlands and Coecles Harbor.


The town’s building permits coordinator confirmed by letter dated January 4 that, at the request of the Town Board, this referral to the ZBA will be made as soon as definitive plans for the project are submitted by the owner to the Building Department.
