Siller meets with Rep. Bishop’s Advisory Council

Shelter Island School senior, Katie Siller, is one of 24 Long Island students from the First Congressional District who are members of Representative Tim Bishop’s Student Advisory Council.
She is pictured here (far left) with some council members from the South Fork at a meeting the congressman held earlier this month. Established in 2002, the council meets several times during the school year to talk about national and international issues. This exchange of ideas “has proven educational and informative for both the students and the congressman,” Mr. Bishop’s office wrote in a recent news release.
Students are nominated to the council by their schools based upon leadership, academic achievement and interest in government and politics.
