NOTICE TO BIDDERS
The Board of Education of the Shelter Island Union Free School District invites the submission of Sealed Bid Proposals to furnish materials and labor to complete the Roof Reconstruction and other Reconstruction all in accordance with the plans and specifications.
This work is to be bid under a “SINGLE CONTRACT” system covering the work of all trades under one contract.
The within contract seeks bids from a single prime contractor. Each bidder shall submit with its bid a separate sealed list that names each subcontractor that the bidder will use to perform work on the contract, and the agreed-upon amount to be paid to each, for: (a) plumbing and gas fitting, (b) steam heating, hot water heating, ventilating and air conditioning apparatus and (c) electric wiring and standard illuminating fixtures. After the low bid is announced, the sealed list of subcontractors submitted with such low bid shall be opened and the names of such subcontractors shall be announced, and thereafter any change of subcontractor or agreed-upon amount to be paid to each shall require the approval of the school district, upon a showing presented to the school district of legitimate construction need for such change, which shall be open to public inspection. Legitimate construction need shall include, but not be limited to, a change in project specifications, a change in construction material costs, a change to subcontractor status as determined pursuant to paragraph (e) of subdivision two of section two hundred twenty-two of the labor law, or the subcontractor has become otherwise unwilling, unable or unavailable to perform the subcontract. The sealed lists of subcontractors submitted by all other bidders shall be returned to them unopened after the contract award.
Sealed Bid Proposals will be received until April 7, 2010 prevailing time on 11:00 am at the School District Office, 33 North Ferry Road, Shelter Island, NY 11964, (631) 749-0302 at which time and place the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.
Any bid may be withdrawn without prejudice prior to the official bid opening time or any publicized postponement thereof.
Any bid received after the time and date stated above shall be returned to the bidder, unopened.
The bid documents and contract documents may be examined at the office of MOSAIC ASSOCIATES, 100 Jericho Quadrangle, Suite 337, Jericho, New York 11753: telephone (516) 935 6620.
Bid documents may be obtained at the Architect’s office upon payment of $100 deposit for each complete set made payable to the School District. Drawings and specifications remain the property of the Architect and must be returned to the Architect’s Office in good condition, within 30 days after date of bid award. Deposits will be refunded to PRIME Contractors ONLY if they had submitted a bona fide bid. Deposits for Sub-contractors will be refunded ONLY if the bid documents are returned within fourteen days after the bid date.
The Board of Education reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities or defects in such bid either before or after opening.
Each bidder must deposit with his bid, security in the form and subject to the conditions provided in the “INFORMATION FOR BIDDERS”.
Attention of bidders is particularly called to the requirements as to conditions of employment to be observed and to the minimum wage rates to be paid under the contracts.
No bidder may withdraw his bid within 45 days after the date of the opening of bids, except as provided for in General Municipal Law, section 103 (11).

TITLE: SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM FOOD SERVICE ITEMS
The Board of Education of the Shelter Island Union Free School District hereby invites the submission of sealed bids from reputable and qualified Food Service Companies for School Lunch Service Products as described in the Invitation For Line-Item Bids for the term of April 9, 2010, through June 30, 2010. Conditions, specifications and bids may be obtained at the Shelter Island School, Business Office, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, beginning on Thursday, March 11, 2010. Specifications will be made available on the district’s Web site beginning that day. To obtain specifications, go to www.shelterisland.k12.ny.us and click on the Business Office tab. To have specifications express shipped, at the bidder’s cost, please provide your shipper’s account number when contacting the Business Office.
Any deviations from these conditions or specifications must be listed on a separate sheet attached to the bidder’s detailed conditions and specifications and referred to separately in the proposals. In all cases not indicated by bidders as a deviation, it is understood that the conditions and specifications of the Shelter Island Union Free School District shall apply. Bids will be received until 11:00 a.m. prevailing time on March 29, 2010, at the Shelter Island School, Shelter Island, New York 11964, at which time and place all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.
Bids will remain firm for a period of forty-five (45) days following the date of the opening, and shall thereafter remain firm until the bidder provides written notice to the School District Business Office that the bid has been withdrawn.
The Board of Education reserves the right to consider experience, service and reputation in the food service field, as well as the financial responsibility and specific qualifications set out herein of the prospective bidder, in considering bids and awarding the contracts. The Board of Education reserves the right to reject any and all bids in whole or in part, when in its sole discretion it deems that it will serve the best interests of the School District, to waive technical defects, irregularities and omissions; and, to select in its sole discretion which of two or more identical bidders shall be awarded the contract.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the following hearings will be held by the Shelter Island Zoning Board of Appeals on the 24th day of March, 2010, at the Shelter Island Town Hall, 38 N. Ferry Road, Shelter Island, New York. Applications are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., or thereafter. Applications may be heard in the order they appear in this notice.
1) The application of John J. Maggio for renovation and expansion of a nonconforming structure and variance at premises located at 5 Auburn Place, Shelter Island Heights, New York, which is Zone “AA reverting to A-Residential” on the Shelter Island Zoning Map, and specifically described on the Suffolk County Tax Map as 0700/06/03/06.1. Applicant seeks to expand a nonconforming building, which requires a special permit pursuant to Section 133-23. Applicant also seeks a 25’ front yard variance to the north to add an addition, a 15’ variance on the west to add an addition, a 21’ variance on the south for an addition and a 9’ variance on the south for a terrace, all from the setbacks required by Section 133-6(B)(5).
2) The application of American Direct LLC for a variance at 1 Shorewood Court, Shelter Island, NY, which is Zone A on the Shelter Island Zoning Map, and specifically described on the Suffolk County Tax Map as 0700/26/01/01.4. Applicant seeks a variance to maintain the existing accessory structures on a lot which after subdivision will not have a primary structure.
