Tome gets lucky with lots of spares Team Won Lost
Lucky Strikes are proud to announce their second Bowler of the Week, Erica Tome. Erica was all about the spares this week. In the first game, Erica had 5 well-spaced spares for a 121. Game two was patterned. Three frames followed by a strike, then a spare and repeated for a very Shelter Island score of 114. Erica started with a pair of spares and ended with a pair of spares for her third over-average game of 110. Erica was 75 pins over average for the week earning her the top spot.
Archer Brown was the only Snipe not in the gutter for the first game. She had a 101 with a pair of spares. Spare Us Ellie Labrozzi was in the same boat. Ellie went Dutch for the last five frames for a 164 and the Spare Us win. Ellie made the 5-7 split in the fourth frame of the second game and rolled a shy 147. Sue Klenawicus had a strike and a spare in the tenth, but also fell short of her average with a 133. Cathy Driscoll and Mary Ellen Gran had matching 112s in the second game and took it for the Snipes. The Guttersnipes all hit over-average scores for the third match. Sue Warner had a poult flanked by strikes in what I like to call a poult sandwich for a 170. Spare Us also surpassed their averages. Sue ended with 4 spares for a 162, while Ellie hit the 5-7 again and bagged a turkey for a 188 and the win.
Erica carried her team in the first game with her 31 extra pins. Donna Clark had two pairs of spares for a 135, while Ginny Gibbs followed with a simple 123. They were able to take the first game for Paint by Numbers. Donna had another over-average game in the second and was joined by Mary Kanarvogel. The Strikes hit it rich in the last two games. Julie Fanelli and Melina Wein made the same marks, but came up with 120 and 126 respectively. Julie finished the night with a 129 and another Lucky Strike win.
Captain Lynn Kay Winters took the lead for her team, but her pair of spares did nothing for the Rockettes. Babe Tracy Gibbs had three open frames for a 155 and a Brick Laying win. The Babes were strutting their stuff in the second game when all four ladies hit well above average. Lisa Goody had a poult for a 126, the most over-average score. Tracy had two pairs of strikes for a 167 and the highest score. Lynn Kay had her girls in tempo. Sherri Surozenski had the highest score with two open frames for a 172. Nichole Thomas went Dutch for a 137. Lynn Kay was not far behind with a 132 and the most over-average score. Sherri hogged the spotlight in the third game with a 177. Dara Clark helped out her team with a very Shelter Island score of 114. Lisa and Tracy joined her with their over-average games and another Babe win.
The Fab Five were run over by the Odd Balls. Betty Kontje had double strikes for a high 105. The Fabs were not behind her. Linda McCarthy bagged a turkey for a 133 and an Odd Ball win. Donna Cass decided to give it a whirl in the second game with a poult for a 144. Essie Simovich showed her hometown spirit with a second 114. Stephanie Tybaert took hold of the reins for a 126. Kelly Michalak went Dutch for a 152 and another Odd win. Norma Edwards shot the moon with double spares for a 126. Jackie Brewer went 10 over average with double strikes and a poult. Betty had a good foundation and followed up with three balls in the10th. Stephanie upped the stakes when she hit a 152 in the third game. Kelly and Linda were right behind her with a 142 and a 131 respectively. Odd Balls took all 11.
