Bevalacqua gets lucky scoring week’s top spot


Here we are in the last month, and another lady from the Lucky Strikes has made it as Bowler of the Week. Alison Bevilacqua had three games that progressively improved.


In her first game, Alison was 3 pins shy of a turkey in the 10th for a 116. Pulling a poult in the second game brought her up to a 127. Alison went Dutch in the last game for a 134. Way to go Alison, maybe the rest of the Lucky Strikes will take the last three Bowler-of-the-Week spots.


Babe Dara Clark laid out a great first game with double strikes and a Dutch set for a 147. Tracy Gibbs started with a turkey and then only marked on lane one for a 161. Lucky Captain Julie Fanelli had two open frames for a 184 to help Alison take the first win.


Babe Traci Kannwischer pulled a poult for a 119, with Lisa Goody hitting an easy 123. Tracy had three open frames and just missed a turkey in the 10th for a 173. Lucky Erica Tome followed Alison’s lead. Erica almost had a perfect spare game, but opened two frames for a 157 and a Spare win.


Captain Laura Marcello and Tracy each raked in 145. Traci bagged a turkey for a 146, but it wasn’t enough. Julie and Erica went mark for mark for 120 and 122 respectively. Alison’s 134 won the Spares their third win. Both teams held onto their positions in the standings.


Sherri Surozenski and Nichole Thomas were the only Rockettes to show against the Guttersnipes. Sherri had an Islander score of 114 while Nichole had an easy 123. Snipe Cathy Driscoll pulled a poult in the ninth frame for a 143. Sue Warner tried for a perfect spare game, but missed with 1 strike and two open frames for a 160 and a Guttersnipe win.


Nichole had the spotlight with a pair of spares and 2 double strikes for a 154. Mary Ellen Gran bagged herself a turkey for a 161 with Sue opening twice again for a 180 and another Snipe win.


Nichole went for doubles again in the last game for a 132, but her solo wasn’t enough to dance away with a win. Archer Brown turkeyed in the 10th for a 134. That was enough for a Snipe win, but Mary Ellen hit 5 spares in a row for a 168 and Sue had 5 strikes for a 213. Guttersnipes swapped third for the Rockettes’ second place.


The pins were uncooperative for the Fabulous Five and Spare Us. In the first game there was a total of 13 splits. Four of them were actually made with the most notable by Momma P. She got the Big Three, the 1-5-10 split. Donna Cass made the first one of the night in the first frame, which was the 5-7. Her 152 and Jackie Brewer’s 161 clinched the win for the Fabulous Five.


The split plague struck again, 11 times in the second game. Fab Essie Simovich managed to avoid all of them for a 156. Momma P. grabbed another 107 as Ellie Labrozzi and Sue Klenawicus rolled 165 and 166 respectively for a Spare win.


Another eight splits in the third game brought the total to 32. Neither team was able to pick up any of them. Sue grabbed a couple of double strikes for a 146. Cheryl Pensa pulled a poult and then went Dutch for a 158. Ellie went Dutch for a 170 as Momma P. had her high for the year with a 121 and another Spare win. Both teams kept their places. 


It was slow going for the first game between the Odd Balls and Paint by Numbers. Captain Stephanie Tybaert and Kelly Michalak were able to take the first game by 18 pins, and that was the only one they would take for the night. Steph was able to break her average in the second game, but only hit a 126.


The Paints all made spares in the first game and kept making marks after that. Pam Jackson had 4 spares in a row for a 144 while Ginny Gibbs reached a 151. Kelly was having a hard time making her marks in the third game, but Steph grabbed a few more strikes to make up for it. Linda Springer made double strikes while Donna Clark bagged a turkey. They both made 155. The Odd Balls sank deeper into the hole, and the Paints remained frozen in theirs.
