In case you needed more of an excuse to call in sick on Super Bowl Monday, the National Weather Service is warning of storm that could reach our area in time for the morning commute.

The NWS has issued a winter storm warning for eastern Long Island beginning at 3 a.m. Monday and lasting until 6 p.m.

The “most likely” snowfall forecast calls for about four inches Monday with the potential for more snow into Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the NWS.

Expect a mix of rain and snow overnight with snow increasing by 7 a.m. Temperatures are projected to remain in the low to mid-30s most of the day Monday, dipping into the upper to mid-20s overnight into Tuesday.
