Father’s Day memory

For Father’s Day the Shelter Island Historical Society has released a photo from its archives taken circa 1912 with the caption: “The Friday evening ferry arriving to the Island was nicknamed the “Daddy Ferry” because the working men from Manhattan or Brooklyn would travel to the Island to spend the weekend on Shelter Island with their familes.”
