Art Barnett and Peter Reich were quick to respond to last week’s mystery photo (see left) with Mr. Barnett breaking the tape just before Mr. Reich. Both Islanders identified the fire bell gracing the triangle in the Heights.
The beautiful bell was originally mounted on a tower next to the firehouse. When the two firehouses merged into one district more than 30 years ago, the bell was mounted on a rock and placed in the triangle across from the firehouse.
