Our columnist takes a trip down memory lane for this sweet potato casserole.

Thanksgiving 1985 was memorable. For one, Uncle Jimmy was in charge of the bird and Aunt Noella first introduced her sweet potato casserole (dessert or side, you decide). All the other contributions were delicious, I’m sure, but a blur.

Bucatini All’Amatriciana! Where have you been all my life? I am a pasta lover who has always snubbed bucatini – the spaghetti-shaped noodle that has a hole through it – until a friend of mine insisted I reconsider.

I’m not the biggest tomato fan: I can’t imagine popping a cherry tomato in my mouth as a snack; I don’t like tomato added to a sandwich (other than a BLT); and I’m a shy salsa eater. You get the picture. (more…)
