The Green Options Advisory Committee wants to make clear that the recently distributed “A Map of Walkable Open Space and Preserved Lands” incorrectly includes a parcel of land owned by the Silver Beach Association as part of the town’s Shell Beach property.
The Silver Beach parcel is not town land and is clearly marked as SBA property.

Showing up almost everywhere, alongside the ubiquitous map of the Island, will soon be a handsome new addition.
Due to the coordination among Island businesses and town government and led by two dedicated citizens, “A Map of Walkable Open Space and Preserved Lands” will now be available to residents and visitors. (more…)

The rollout of a new resource for Islanders and visitors was announced at Tuesday’s Town Board work session.
“A Map of Walkable Open Space and Preserved Lands,” is a handsome, foldable map similar in size to the free Shelter Island maps available in many places around town, with information on preserved areas of the Island and readable, easy to follow directions. (more…)
