The Shelter Island Zoning Board of Appeals has a message for applicants: Not only tell us what your project will look like when it’s completed, but also the process involved to achieve your goal. Fail to do that and you’re likely to get a stop work order and be further delayed until the project can be reviewed again. (more…)

In a story posted yesterday,”Shelter Island Town Board work session report,” and in print today, on a public meeting and a Building Department’s investigation of complaints about an unsafe structure on a North Menantic property, the resident said errors were made.

The structure is not “rodent infested,” the resident said, and the issue has come to light due to a neighbor’s harassment.
