The Garden Club of Shelter Island’s Operation Daffodil celebrated its seventh year with Cub Scout Pack 56 planting 100 King Alfred Daffodil Bulbs on Saturday, November 10, at Prospect Park. They’ve planted over 2,000 King Alfred Jumbo Daffodils throughout the Island. Jean McClintock and Tim Purtell oversee the program. Saturday, March 10 was the running of the annual Pinewood Derby on Shelter Island sponsored by Cub Scout Pack 56 and held at the American Legion Hall. This year, the Girl Scouts were invited to join in the fun by competing in their own race. (more…)

On Thursday, March 8, Ms. Lopez’s film ‘Equal Means Equal’ will be screened at the Shelter Island Library by the League of Women Voters of Shelter Island.

In honor of Women’s History Month, on Thursday, March 8 at 7 p.m., the Shelter Island Library will present “Equal Means Equal,” a documentary that offers an unflinching look at how women are treated in the United States today. (more…)
