I was treated to a very special dinner at the Legion Hall last Monday. A few people from the Senior Center were going and Director Laurie Fanelli asked if I would like to go along.
I was not expecting much, having spent most of my working life eating institutional food at boarding schools. Boy, was I surprised!

Bucatini All’Amatriciana! Where have you been all my life? I am a pasta lover who has always snubbed bucatini – the spaghetti-shaped noodle that has a hole through it – until a friend of mine insisted I reconsider.

It’s hard not to accept credit for your cooking in the dog days of summer — even if you don’t deserve it. Summer fruits and vegetables are approaching peak ripeness right about now and require little or no preparation in the kitchen. (more…)
