Jackson Bubala firing the final pitch to close out the Bucks victory over Sag Harbor Tuesday. The right-hander out of Dartmouth College has pitched lights out all summer in relief for the Islanders.

The Shelter Island Bucks will spend their weekend playing for the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League championship.

The Islanders swept the best-of-three semifinal playoff matchup against the Sag Harbor Whalers, winning 5-4 at Fiske Field Tuesday evening. The Bucks came back from a 4-0 deficit to advance to the HCBL Championship Series. (more…)

Saturday night the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League hosted its annual All-Star Game at the home of the North Fork Osprey’s in Peconic. The North team, consisting of players from the Osprey’s, Riverhead Tomcats and Shelter Island Bucks, won 7-2 over the South Team. (more…)

BEVERLEA WALZPHOTO | Brandon Kacer of Elon University winding up to fire the first pitch for the Bucks 2014 season.

Fans attending the Shelter Island Bucks Opening Day at Fiske Field Sunday were treated to beautiful weather, a first pitch thrown by Reverend Joel Ireland of St. Mary’s and a stirring rendition of “the Star Spangled Banner,” from Linda Bonaccors.

Islanders packed the bleachers behind home plate and lined the left field line in their own chairs.

And best of all, the fans were on hand for a resounding victory over the North Fork Ospreys in the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League battle. (more…)
