On the evening of August 1, John King was racing on a Sonar sailboat during the weekly Wednesday races that attract many boats and their crews to Greenport Harbor and along Shelter Island’s coast. He and his crew were off Jennings Point and Camp Quinipet when his friend turned to him and said, “I think there’s a boat sinking.” (more…)

Since September, the Brugman sisters, Nora, 26, and Atlantic, 27, both sailing instructors at the Shelter Island Yacht Club (SIYC), have been training with two-time Olympian and Islander Amanda Clark in hopes of representing the United States in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games. (more…)

I own a house in a community of half acre lots in which two houses have been built and rented out to at least four families at a time for as little as a night, a weekend or a week. There are often six cars in the driveway or on the street. My understanding is that the property owner has approached a third person to buy another lot between the other two. (more…)
