The Village of Dering Harbor is holding elections for Mayor and Trustees today.
Polls are open from noon to 8 p.m. at the Village Hall.
Deputy Mayor Betsy Morgan is running unopposed for Mayor.
Trustees Karen Kelsey and Patrick Parcells are running for re-election, also unopposed.

Village officials spent the week hunting for possible leaks in Dering Harbor’s antiquated water system since a spike in usage has drawn saltwater into the public water supply. This has caused pressure to drop system-wide, putting at risk the aging water tower. (more…)

In a dizzying round of political musical chairs, John J. Colby Jr., the only one of the four members of the Village Board whose seat was not up for renewal in June’s tumultuous election, was appointed as Dering Harbor’s mayor Saturday, July 15 becoming the third person to hold that office in two weeks. In a stunning sweep, three write-in candidates — who had been sued by the mayor as part of an effort to keep their names off the ballot — unseated three incumbent trustees in the Village of Dering Harbor on Tuesday. Ballots were cast by all but four of the 81 registered voters in the state’s smallest municipality.
