Shelter Island Bucks General Manager Frank Emmett and Assistant GM Dave Gurney were in high spirits before the team’s opener at Fiske Field last Friday afternoon even though the day had delivered just enough precipitation to keep the crowds at bay.
But soon the evening turned warm and clear, getting better with every run the Bucks racked up to beat the Sag Harbor Whalers, 12-2. (more…)
Danny Peskowitz died at his Penny’s Path home on May 5, 2017, surrounded by loved ones.
Danny moved to the Island in 1998, having summered here for many years. He was a Wednesday afternoon volunteer at Mashomack. Until his last years, he was a late-afternoon regular at Menhaden Lane beach and loved concerts at the Perlman Music Program, his family said. (more…)

After months of planning by the managerial staff, the 25-man Shelter Island Bucks roster will finally arrive on the Island in time for their season opener against the Sag Harbor Whalers on Sunday, May 31. (more…)
