The Greenport Village Board has proposed once again making Wiggins Street two-way in order to relieve traffic congestion caused by the North Ferry. It had two-way traffic until 2001, when it was changed into a one-way street in the direction of the ferry, for that same reason. (more…)

Almost a year has passed with no action to reroute North Ferry traffic in Greenport and a meeting Friday between general manager Bridg Hunt and Railroad Museum officials appears to be unrelated to any change. (more…)

There is no possible way I can even attempt to dignify Meredith Page’s letter to the Reporter (“Damage done,” June 12). I have been a member of St. Mary’s Church for 30 years and I do not recall ever coming across any “bad apples” — most disrespectful.

JULIE LANE PHOTO | The traffic became so snarled at the Greenport side of North Ferry at certain times last summer that motorists abandoned their vehicles and began directing traffic.

A meeting of officials from the MTA/Long Island Rail Road, Greenport Village and North Ferry has taken place in the past week on accessing the ferry from Greenport.

The MTA is now awaiting a letter from Mayor David Nyce regarding a request to use MTA property to stage vehicles before boarding. (more…)
