I believe trees are to be treasured and preserved whenever it is feasible.

I feel elevated and simultaneously humbled looking up at a stately oak. Recently, my family was walking through the Old Nursery Woodlands Preserve and came across a specimen of untold years. We had a moment of joy (and a great photograph) when three of us, holding hands, extended our arms and could barely reach around the giant truck to enclose its 15-foot circumference. (more…)

Cur slipped away on a Saturday morning three weeks ago. Codger and Crone were with him, murmuring, stroking him, weeping. He was more than 14 years old and very sick.

Codger and Crone are not routinely sentimental, but there has been much talk since about rainbow bridges and other beloved dogs waiting for Cur on the other side. Codger’s father, Coot, who never met Cur, is there with treats. (more…)
