On Sunday, August 19, Reverend Galen Guengerich, Senior Minister of All Souls Unitarian Church in New York City, will speak at the historic Union Chapel in the Grove. His sermon is titled, “The Feast of Your Life.” This service, at 10:30 a.m., marks Sylvester Manor Harvest Sunday.
They were here, nearly from the founding of Southold Town in the mid-17th century. Their presence has not been widely discussed or been part of the conversation in either Southold or Riverhead towns, where the stories of the founding English families have dominated the narrative for generations as if theirs were the only stories worth telling. Join Jeanne Marie Merkel for an evening of Celtic music, poetry, image and storytelling at Friday Night Dialogues at the Shelter Island Library on March 18.
In her presentation, “Inner and Outer Landscapes of the Celtic Soul,” Ms. Merkel will reflect on her May 2006 vision quest in Ireland and what she learned about the Celtic way of being in relationship to the earth, how it can enrich our inner lives and awaken our dedication to protecting the landscapes we love.
