Winthrop-University Hospital is still weighing options to expand its services, but that’s not threatening to Dr. Ann Desire, who just leased the Medical Center space originally promised to Winthrop.
No one is threatening to toss Dr. Anthonette Desire out of the Medical Center space she has just opened in the rear of the building.
But Winthrop-University Hospital remains interested in expanding its presence on Shelter Island, according to Winthrop’s director of real estate, John Mather. (more…)

Dr. Peter Kelt has now moved his practice from the back to the front of the town-owned Medical Center. The rear office is to be occupied by doctors affiliated with Winthrop Hospital.
If you’re a regular patient of Dr. Peter Kelt or a new patient of his associate, Dr. Barbara Cole-Phillips, you probably know that the office has now relocated from the back to the front of the town Medical Center.
But the back office, to be occupied by a doctor or doctors from Winthrop-University Hospital, could be open in about two weeks, according to hospital spokesman J. Edmund Keating. (more…)

Shelter Islanders are a step closer today to having another doctor on staff at the Medical Center on South Ferry Road.
But the town is still waiting Winthrop University Hospital to sign a lease to take over space for a second practice in the building.

Winthrop University Hospital is expected to be staffing the town’s Medical Center, replacing Island Urgent Medical Care, but another unidentified practitioner — in addition to Dr. Peter Kelt — could be taking space in the building in the near future, Supervisor Jim Dougherty said Wednesday morning.
