Qualifying cross country races to move up to state finals were held November 3 at Sunken Meadow State Park.

Both Shelter Island’s teams won the county, as well as League Championships for their third consecutive year. (more…)

The races are called, by cross country athletes, coaches and fans, “Divisions.”

Divisions are held on the famously — or infamously — difficult 5K course at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park. The meet is a necessity because without it, runners are not permitted to compete in state qualifiers (States”) held at the same location, a week later. (more…)
