The Shelter Island boys JV baseball team finished the 2014 season playing the Ross School Cosmos on their home field on May 9.

The Island faithful broke out the lawn chairs and was lined up on the first base line at Fiske Field for the start of the game. It was a warm day and great weather for a spring baseball game. The Island boys ended the season on a winning note in a high scoring back-and-forth 14-11 victory. (more…)

The Shelter Island boys’ JV baseball team had a double header scheduled against Greenport for Saturday April 26, but due to rainy weather the games were rescheduled for three days later.

It was pick your poison when it came to the weather, since the twin bill was played in Greenport with the wind blowing a steady 20 mph out of the east and the temperature barely above 50 degrees. It was so cold and windy it would have been a bad day for a football game. (more…)

On Monday, April 21, a nice crowd filled the bleachers at Fiske Field to watch the Shelter Island Boys JV team defeat Southold 11-4. A majority of the fans were Shelter Island students cheering on their classmates, and it was good to see the students supporting the sports teams that work hard and represent the school and community. The Shelter Island boys’ baseball team started the season by sweeping the Stony Brook Bears, taking the series 3-0. Shelter Island scored double figures in all three games and while they were behind early in the third game, they came back with 11 runs in the final three innings to secure the win. (more…)
