On Saturday January 30, the Shelter Island boys varsity basketball team had their home gym rocking before, during and after a 54-53 barn-burner win over the previously undefeated Stony Brook Bears.
This was the second home game in a row the varsity boys came away with a thrilling, 1- point victory. The win clinched a playoff berth for the Islanders. (more…)

It was a victory worthy of the build-up to Spirit Week and the annual pep rally.
On Tuesday night, January 26, the Shelter Island boys varsity basketball team had a huge win over long-time rivals, the Pierson Whalers.
Jack Kimmelmann was the hero of the evening, sinking a foul shot with just seconds remaining to give the Islanders a 42-41 win in front of a loud and proud home crowd. (more…)

Shelter Island basketball fans filed into the school gym Tuesday on a cold, windy night for a game against Greenport. But the chill outside was quickly forgotten, replaced by hot shooting from the boys varsity, resulting in a 59-42 win over their cross-bay rivals, the Greenport Porters. (more…)

The Shelter Island School boys varsity basketball team entered its home game against Southold with a league record of one win and two losses and an overall record of four wins against five losses. Southold, also 1-2 in league action and 4-4 overall, was hoping to steal a win from the home team. After a hard-fought, exciting game, Shelter Island came away with a 67-63 win. (more…)

The Shelter Island School boys varsity basketball team hit the home court against the Bridgehampton Killer Bees on a cold Tuesday, January 5, with its season record knotted at 4-4.
The Bridgehampton varsity, in their traditional black and yellow, are the defending Class D state champions, and entered the game leading the league with an 8-1 record.
After a close first half, the Bees rolled to a 60-42. (more…)
