Players and coaches have arrived, Fiske Field has been made ready for the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League (HCBL) and the Shelter Island Bucks will take the field for Opening Day today, Friday, June 1 at 5 p.m. against the Southampton Breakers.

The Bucks will be right back at home tomorrow, Saturday, June 2 taking on the North Fork Ospreys.

Come out for good baseball and a good time, as the Bucks challenge for an HCBL championship.

Nearing the halfway point of their 41 game regular season schedule, the Shelter Island Bucks of the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League (HCBL) stand in third place with a record of 10-8-1. They are 6-4 over their last ten games. (more…)

Through the years, Shelter Island has been proud of its golfers. The way this year is panning out, that’s not going to change. Golfers continue to show we can play darn good golf right here on this little island.

Through the years we’ve enjoyed accomplishment after accomplishment and not just on our Island, but throughout the state and country. Just last week 61 year-old Jay Sessa was playing in a national event as the oldest player in the field. The week before that and the week after, Jay “Jake” Card III finished second in two major tournaments. (more…)

The Shelter Island Bucks welcomed the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League (HCBL) leading Westhampton Aviators on Tuesday and bowed 7-3 at a sun-drenched Fiske Field.

Island pitchers recorded 13 strikeouts and allowed twelve hits as the Aviators earned their 20th win of the season against just nine defeats. The Bucks are in last place in the HCBL with an 8-17-1 record. (more…)
