The first league match for the Shelter Island School volleyball teams was Friday, September 1.

A beautifully sunny and cool day, it felt like mid-September. Fans came to the morning game with signs, a couple of infants were there for their first match, and new athletes got to strut their stuff, all in advance of the first day of school. (more…)

BEVERLEA WALZ PHOTO | Kal Lewis going up for two in the paint, in the Shelter Island junior varsity boys basketball team’s win against Port Jefferson in their final game of the season.

The Shelter Island boys junior varsity basketball team ended their season on a high note Wednesday, February 10, beating the Port Jefferson Royals 57-49. Twice-postponed due to snow and scheduling conflicts, they closed their season as winners. (more…)

Seven really is a lucky number, especially for the Shelter Island School’s volleyball program.

With a win at Port Jefferson Tuesday, the varsity team claimed an incredible seventh consecutive undefeated league championship for the Island. But, actually, luck had nothing to do with it. Skill, teamwork and heart carried the Blue and Gray to victory. (more…)
