Pelletier rolls week’s best handicap series


Odd Balls took the lead this week with a little help from Bev Pelletier. An average of 116 didn’t hold her back from bowling 89 pins over for a high handicap series of 608, making Bev our Bowler of the Week. Bev had three open frames in the first game for a 159 to start. In the second game, Bev went Dutch for a 131 with a strike and a spare in the 10th frame. She started strong with a strike in the first frame of the last game and ended Dutch for a 147.

Paint by Numbers started the week by taking all 11 points from the Guttersnipes. Snipe Mary Ellen Gran picked up some marks for a 129 in the first game, but the lanes had war Paint on them. Donna Clark went over average with a 117, while Pam Jackson had three open frames for a 155 and a PbN win. Sue Warner stepped up in the second game for the Guttersnipes, with a poult and two open frames for a 175, but Donna contributed another over-average game with a score of 128 and Linda Springer joined her with her very own 155 for another Paint win. Mary Ellen and Sue had each other’s backs in the last game with a 122 from M. E. and a 166 from Sue. The Paints combined forces for a trifecta. Donna had her third high game with a 129, Linda went Dutch for a 143 and Pam walked away with a 156.

The Rockettes danced the night away with the Lucky Strikes. Lucky Captain Julie Fanelli banged out a 146 in the first game. Lynn Kay Winters had her high of the night with a 116. Ashley Knight added 19 pins to her average for a 106. Sherri Surozenski came close to a turkey for a 144 and the Rockette win. The ‘Ettes took a breather in the second game, with only Ashley bowling over average. The Lucky Strikes struck back, with all of them hitting the 100s. Julie hit the high for her team with a 120, while Farragh Callahan was most over average for the Strikes with a 107. In the last game, the Strikes confused golf for bowling, where the lower score is preferred. Ashley Knight was in the spotlight for her last dance with her high game of the night of 127 and the last game for the Rockettes.

The Fabulous Five took all 11 points from the Brick Laying Babes. The Babes were digging for scores in the first game. With double spares, Essie Simovich was the only bowler to break her average with a 145 for the Fab win. In the second game the Babes laid a foundation. Captain Laura Marcello had a very Shelter Island score of 114. Traci Kannwischer added 12 pins to her average for a 129. Lisa Goody bagged a turkey for a 133. The Fabs were flying high with astronomical scores. Audrey Marshall had double strikes for an easy 123. Betty Kontje had three open frames for a 147. Donna Cass went Dutch with two open frames to grab a 162. Essie pulled a poult with three open frames, pulling in a 171. Babe Lisa had double spares in the last game for a 120, with Tracy Gibbs going Dutch for her own 171. Fab Audrey Marshal hit her high of the night with a 125. Donna had her third over-average game of 157 to finish with a strong Fab victory.

Spare Us kicked back with the Odd Balls to end the week. Spare Mama P. started off the night hot with her high of 106. Sue Klenawicus was close to bagging a turkey in the 10th frame but still pulled out a 150. Ellie Labrozzi had two open frames with a turkey and a poult for a 179, which was the high of the week. Odd Ball Lee Oliver added 16 pins to her average for a 124, while Kelly Michalak went Dutch with three open frames to help Bev with her 163 for an OB win. Kelly pulled a poult in the second game, but it didn’t result in another Odd win. Ellie carried her team in the second game, grabbing another 179 for a Spare win. Ellie tried for a triplicate score in the last game, but the superstitious drawings on the score sheet were not working. Instead, Liz Lechmanski opened three frames for a 160. Captain Stephanie Tybaert hit her high of the night with a 144 and Lee was right behind her, going Dutch for a 134 and a final Odd Ball win.
