Shelter Island Reporter obituary: Bruce M. Hopke

Bruce M. Hopke, 73, of Shelter Island, passed away peacefully on Aug. 23, 2026.

Bruce was a beloved florist for many years in Deer Park, N.Y.. He was a loyal and cherished friend to many and was especially happy to call Shelter Island his home, an island he deeply loved.

Bruce had a lifelong love of sailing and treasured his time on the water. He will be remembered for his friendships, his love of the Island, and the many lives he touched throughout the years.

He is survived by his daughter, Lauren.

A private family service will be held in his memory.
