Audiobook narrator Gerard Doyle visits the library on Friday, January 11.


How do you “read” today? Increasingly, people are turning to audio books as a way of getting content, instead of traditional reading. With audio books, you can listen on a commute, while exercising or doing household chores. On Friday, January 11, at 7 p.m., the Shelter Island Public Library will host Gerard Doyle, an actor and the voice of over 400 audio books for major publishers. Mr. Doyle has won many distinguished awards for his work.

The Shelter Island Public Library Board of Trustees bade farewell to long-time trustee Phyllis Gates and welcomed two new trustees at its annual meeting on January 20, 2018. Ms. Gates served as a trustee for the library for nine years, during which time she worked on everything from fundraising to publicity to special event planning. Her good humor and knowledge about library issues will be missed.   (more…)
