A year ago, parents of students attending Our Lady of the Hamptons School in Southampton lost their bid to get free busing for their children. The school was just beyond the 15-mile radius of the students’ residences requiring the Shelter Island School District to provide transportation. (more…)

MYSTERIES AT THE MANOR
On Saturday, October 28 from noon to 3 p.m., Sylvester Manor Educational Farm hosts “Mysteries of the Manor,” an afternoon of frightful family fun with ghoulish games, creepy crafts, a freaky photobooth, face painting and farm animals. Delighted Superintendent Leonard Skuggevik had a wide smile as he learned that his first budget in the district had garnered an 82 percent approval.
