ANNUAL ‘CELEBRATION OF LIFE’
The 18th annual Cheryl Hannabury Memorial “Celebration of Life” community cocktail party will be held on Saturday, March 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Ram’s Head Inn.
This Island tradition is the biggest yearly fundraiser for the Island Gift of Life Foundation, which helps East End families with uninsured costs during treatment of serious diseases such as travel and lodging expenses for family members to distant treatment centers. Last year’s event raised over $40,000. (more…)

This letter is to the Waterways Advisory Committee, the Town Board and all concerned citizens.
I have enjoyed the use of Menantic Creek since 1988. While I am not a property owner on Menantic, it has long been my privilege and pleasure to kayak, sail, swim and fish in this beautiful body of water. (more…)

Cover of the fall 2016 edition of 2Rs4fun, which features young writers’ work.
“Children need to be free, I think, or they won’t get to their soul as writers.”
Islander Mary Dwyer spoke those words that gave rise in 2008 inspired a program — 2Rs4fun — that she founded, affording young writers in the 3rd and 4th grades an opportunity to see their works in print.
A former teacher, Ms. Dwyer, has been successful in attracting adult mentors to work with the children one-on-one. The young writers have just issued their fall 2016 compilation of writings. (more…)
