Weddings: Lt. Cmdr. & Mrs. Robert Looney


Gretchen Calder Bittner and Lieutenant Commander Robert Bruce Looney were married June 26, 2010 on Broomfield Creek Sandbar on Lady’s Island, South Carolina.

The bride is the daughter of David E. and Valerie C. Bittner of Royal Oak, Maryland and the granddaughter of Doris D. Clark of Oxford, Maryland and the late Captain Gilbert C. Clark and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Bittner of Shelter Island.

The groom is the son of the late Captain and Mrs. Robert Fein Looney Jr., USNR, of Kingsport, Tennessee and Lady’s Island.

The couple reside in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Ms. Looney is a reading learning specialist in the Charleston County School District; Lt. Cmdr. Looney served with the U.S. Navy and owns an energy-performance business.
