Shelter Island birds: red-tailed hawk in Silver Beach

Birder and photographer Don Bindler of Silver Beach photographed this red-tailed hawk launching from a tree in his backyard recently. Perhaps brush clearing at the nearby town-owned Brandenstein field, Mr. Bindler said, had prompted the hawk move over to his place.
